This child of mine is a mini-Jenn. A spitfire at times, a cuddle bug at others, and my Mama and Daddy's revenge. You know, the hope of all parents that you have one just like YOU. Well, here she is, Princess Sarah.
This cute bundle of curls is high maintenance, and this really is an understatement. She has struggled with severe eczema since birth, and also has both peanut and egg allergies. Carrying an epi pen everywhere we go has become the norm. Due to these issues, we have been unable to attend church for a long while. She has been showing a lot of progress with her sores, so we are hoping (and praying) to return to church soon. Lord knows my husband and I need some spiritual guidance and support right now! Of course, each time we say this it seems she has yet another severe outbreak. So, fingers crossed and prayers sent!
God makes 'em cute for a reason, no doubt. While she tries my patience daily, there is a sweetness to her you just can't help but love. She can be a bit sassy at times, and like most toddlers her favorite word right now is "No!". Yet, this is my one child that never neglects to use her manners, always saying thank you and please, and is always ready and willing to give big bear hugs.
She is also a little ham, and loves to dance and dance and dance. She tries so hard to be like her big sisters, and really has no problems keeping up with them!
While I may not be thrilled at her latest finger painting antics, I must say, she does keep me on my toes and makes life a lot more interesting!
Sarah was a late walker, and we even had to have her evaluated for developmental delays. While her speech has always been more advanced than her age, we did have concerns about her physical development, especially her gross motor skills. However, she has more than caught up and just proved to us that she will do things in HER time, and when SHE is ready. PERIOD. This pretty much sums up her personality!
I must give my tween credit today for coming to my rescue. She is the one that discovered Sarah had once again shed her diaper (and all the lovely contents) and volunteered on her own to clean it up! I had just put both Sarah and Abigail in the nursery so I could feed Chase, and just that quickly little mini-Jenn had made the mess of all messes. My tween just turned 12 in December, and it seems that since then she has really grown up a lot. I would NOT have asked her to tackle such a mess, yet on her own she volunteered to help me!
On the newborn front, Chase is still sleeping most of the day and is up more at night. I can't wait until he becomes more interactive, awake and alert. While I could do without the sleep deprivation (luckily hubby has been a HUGE help, so I have been able to get some rest!), I am enjoying every minute with the newest member of our family. I feel so blessed, and at times it leaves me breathless. Parenting is definitely the toughest job I have ever had, but it has been and continues to be the most rewarding.
I am healing from the c-section well. I still feel a bit sore, and physically worn out, but other than that my recovery has been uneventful, thank goodness! I have vowed to be fabulous at 40, and since I am finished making babies, I have a little over 5 years to accomplish this HUGE task. While I realize my body will never be the same I am ready to be the best I can be, and work with what I have left!
Duty calls, so until next time....

5 BackSeat Drivers:
Oh, the joys of having kids so close together- I remember those days, they go by quick! Before you know it your mini-Jenn will be a teenager- yikes LOL
You look great BTW- love the new profile pic
I have always heard that this type of finger-painting is a sign of a highly creative mind :) At least that's what I told myself as I picked the artwork out of door-knobs. Another interesting medium is peanut butter, which FYI does not come off or out of ANYTHING!
Hang in there girl - you will SO laugh at these times some day!
Melissa,
The days and years do fly by, I know. My oldest is now 12 and WoW! I am so not prepared for the teen years! It seems just like yesterday I was cleaning up her finger painting masterpiece. Luckily she only did it once!
I can't even begin to imagine what life is going to be like when my youngest 3 are going through the teen years AT THE SAME TIME! ;)
Tara,
I'll keep telling myself the very same thing. Thanks for the advice! I won't have the peanut butter issue, Sarah is allergic to peanuts, but you are right...peanut butter does not come out! It does help in removing gum from hair, though...sometimes!
Girl, I am already laughing. We have to keep our sense of humor or we'd lose our minds, right? ;)
Jenn,
Oh the memories of cleaning up after wonderful art work such as yours. The days will fly by and before you can blink they will be calling you to tell you how terrible your grand babies are for finger painting the nursery walls without the proper paint. Enjoy life is to short!
